Connecting VAS 5051 or VAG 1551




Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing And Information System VAS5051 Or VAG1551 Scan Tool, Connecting And Selecting Functions


NOTE:
The VAG1552 scan tool can be used instead of the VAG1551 scan tool, however a printout is not possible.


Test conditions
- Battery (B+) voltage at least 11 V.
- Ground connections on engine and transmission OK.
- Fuse OK.
- Ground (GND) connections and Ground point for transmission OK


- Check battery Ground (GND) strap and Ground strap between battery and transmission.
- Switch ignition off.


NOTE: The Data Link Connector (DLC) is located in below the dash to the left of the steering column.







- Unclip cover for Data Link Connector.
- Connect VAS5051 tester to vehicle with VAS5051/1 diagnostic wire. Alternately, VAG1551 Scan Tool can also be attached using VAG1551/3 adapter.


WARNING!
- Observe safety precautions.
- VAS5051 or VAG1551 must only be secured to the rear seat and operated from there by a second technician.

1) Two operating modes are displayed alternately

- Switch ignition on
- Switch printer on by pressing PRINT button (indicator light in button comes on).
- Press button -1- to select "Rapid Data Transfer" operating mode 1.

NOTE:
In "Rapid data transfer" operating mode 1, "Automatic test sequence" address word 00 can be carried out. This will automatically check all vehicle control modules which have OBD capability.
