NOTE:
- Always confirm proper coding of A/C control head -E87- (engine type dependant) before diagnosis and repairs.
- Check and erase DTC memory and perform basic setting after performing repairs.
- Refrigerant system, servicing.
- Removing and installing instrument panel outer skin.
1 - Left instrument panel air outlet
2 - Side window defroster vent
3 - Outside temperature display -G106-*
- The determined outside temperature can be displayed in °C or in °F independent of the -E87- setting
NOTE: If display is incorrect, test measured values of temperature sensor via VAG1551 Scan Tool function 08, Read Measuring Value Block.
4 - Center instrument panel air outlet
5 - Sunlight photo-sensor -G107-**
6 - Windshield defroster vent
7 - Instrument panel interior temperature sensor -G56-**
8 - A/C control head -E87-
NOTE:
- The illumination of the display field and the operating button is via light emitting diode (LED), and can not be replaced.
- Always refer to parts in formation for correct control head versions.
9 - Side window defroster vent
10 - Right instrument panel air outlet
11 - Evaporator housing drain
12 - Data Link Connector (DLC) for VAG1551/1552 Scan Tool (ST)
- Connecting VAG1551/1552
13 - Sender for outlet temperature, center -G191-**
14 - Interior temperature sensor fan -V42-*
15 - Kickdown switch
- Depending on vehicle equipment and instantaneous vehicle speed, A/C clutch is cut-off when accelerating either by Engine control module (ECM) or Transmission control module
16 - Control module for fresh air blower -J126-**
17 - Fresh air blower -V2-**
18 - Air flow flap motor -V71-*
- Operates air flow flap and the fresh air/recirculating air flap
- With back pressure flap motor position sensor -G113-
19 - Fresh air intake duct temperature sensor -G89-**
20 - Heater/air conditioner assembly (with evaporator)
CAUTION!
Refrigerant system must be discharged prior to removal of heater/A/C assembly.
21 - Temperature regulator flap motor -V68-*
- With Temperature regulator flap motor position sensor -G92-
- Pivot lever: "red"
22 - Central air flap motor -V70-*
- With Central flap motor position sensor -G112-
- Pivot lever: "blue"
23 - Floor outlet
24 - Sender for outlet temperature, floor outlet -G192-**
25 - Footwell/defroster flap motor -V85-*
- With Footwell/defroster flap motor position sensor -G114-
