Connecting VAS 5051 or VAG 1551




VAS 5051 vehicle diagnostic, measuring and information system or VAG 1551 Scan Tool, connecting and selecting functions

Test requirements

- Battery voltage at least 11 V
- Ground connections at engine and transmission OK
- Fuses OK
- Ground (GND) connections and Ground point for transmission OK
- Check battery Ground (GND) strap and Ground strap between battery and transmission.
- Switch ignition off.


NOTE: Data Link Connector is located in driver-side footwell lower left.







- Unclip cover for Data Link Connector.
- Connect VAS 5051 tester to vehicle with VAS 5051/1 diagnostic wire. Alternately, the VAG 1551 Scan Tool can also be attached using the VAG 1551/3 adapter.


WARNING!
- When road testing vehicle, use only the VAS 5051 or the V.A.G 1551 scan tools. Be sure scan tool is fastened securely to rear seat and operated from the rear seat by a second technician.
- Please observe safety precautions

1) Operating modes 1 and 2 are displayed alternately

- Switch ignition on
- Switch printer on via the print-button (indicator lamp in button lights up). (indicator lamp in button lights up).
- Press button 1 to select "Rapid data transfer" operating mode 1.

NOTE: The address word 00 initiates the automatic test sequence, i.e. it results in a DTC check on all OBD capable systems in the vehicle via rapid data transfer.
