Exhaust system components, removing and installing
Notes:
- Aligning exhaust system to relieve stress.
- Checking exhaust system for leaks.
- Separating point between center and rear mufflers, Refer to Fig.1
- Always replace gaskets and nuts
- The mountings for the center and rear mufflers look the same but have a different elasticity. See Parts list
- Exhaust manifold, removing and installing.

^ Metal side of gaskets must be toward cylinder head

8. Oxygen sensor - 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)
^ Checking.
^ Apply grease G5. Be sure that no grease enters slot of oxygen sensor.
9. 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
^ Always replace
10. Front exhaust pipe and Three Way Catalytic (TWC) converter (right)
11. Double clamp
^ Tighten evenly - 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)
^ Installation position
^ Always replace clamp after bolts were loosened.
12. Mounting
^ Looks identical to Item 14, but has different elasticity.
^ Attaches bracket to floor panel - bracket 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)

- The cutting point between center an rear mufflers is used to replace parts separately if required.
- Cut through connecting pipes between center and rear mufflers at points marked with groove:
- a = approximately 240 mm (9.5 inch)
- b = approximately 200 mm (7.8 inch)
- Use two short double clamps to connect center to rear mufflers.
- Installation position of rear double clamps.
- Bolt ends must not protrude beyond bottom of clamp.
- Aligning tailpipes.
- Aligning rear mufflers.
