Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) (Function 03)

Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) (function 03)

NOTE:
- Output diagnostic test mode can be repeated several times, if necessary.
- Malfunctions at output DTM components identified with an * are stored in DTC memory.
- For testing the "Idle speed control" function
- The vehicle must not be moved during output diagnostic test mode and engine speed must be less than 3000 RPM.
- Changes to model year 2000 on vehicles.

Initiating output DTM
- Start engine.
- Connect VAG1551 Scan Tool, insert address word "AC/Heating Electronics" and move forward in the program until "Select function XX" is displayed. Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks
- Switch printer on by pressing the PRINT button (indicator lamp in button comes on).
- Check DTC memory.

Indicated on display (function selection):

Changes to model year 2000 on vehicles:

NOTE:
- Windshield defroster is activated by A/C control head having pad numbers beginning with index letter "M" as first component.
- Actuator "Evaporative Emission Flap Motor -V114-" is no longer triggered by A/C control heads with part number beginning with index letter "M"
- Outside temperature display -G106- is not activated by A/C control head having part number beginning with index letter "M." The outside temperature for vehicles with -E87- beginning with index letter "M" is calculated with the instrument cluster; data exchange occurs via Can-bus
- Air flow flap motor -V71- is activated by A/C control head having part number up to Index "K" after interior temperature sensor fan - V42-, beginning with index letter "M" activation occurs after rear footwell vent -V112-.
- For A/C control heads with the part number beginning from Index "M" activation of last component indicates that output diagnostic test mode has ended (indicator on display of DTC memory "END").
- Interior temperature sensor fan -V42- is installed into A/C control head -E87- with part numbers beginning with index letter "M", and can not be replaced individually.

If at the beginning of output diagnostic test mode "Function unknown or can not be conducted at this moment" appears, the following could be the cause:
- Engine rpm is smaller than 300 RPM or greater 3000 RPM.
- Compressor shut off condition has occurred, which does not permit A/C clutch from switching on.
- Vehicle moves at speed greater than 5 km/h.
- Temperature in the passenger compartment is greater than 40 °C (with A/C control head having part number beginning with index letter "M").
