Adaptation (Function 10)
Use this function to initiate and store the following changes:
- Adaptation of fuel gauge reading
- Coding of language version for Auto-check system
- Adaptation of service indicator
- Adaptation of odometer reading when replacing/exchanging instrument cluster
- Correction of fuel tank sender characteristic curve
Call up individual functions by using the appropriate channel number in the adaptation table.

NOTE: After changing an adaptation value or ending an adaptation channel, the function "10 Adaptation" must be performed to select another adaptation channel.
Fuel gauge adaptation
NOTE:
- The adaptation only affects Reserve and has no affect on the "full" mark.
- The pointer of the fuel gauge must be positioned on the right red line (reserve) of the fuel gauge when the display shows OK.
- When the VAG1551 Scan Tool is connected and the fuel gauge adaptation was selected, the "low fuel signal" is automatically deactivated.
- If only the VW0301 instrument/gauge tester is connected, the "low fuel signal" must be activated by switching the ignition off for 2 minutes.
- For the adaptation of the fuel gauge, the fuel sender -arrow- located under the luggage compartment cover must be disconnected.
- Switch off ignition.
- Connect VW1031 instrument/gauge tester to fuel gauge sender using jumper wire.
- Adjust tester VW1301 to value 470.
- Switch ignition on after 2 minutes (recognition of the "low fuel signal") and observe fuel gauge.
NOTE: The fuel gauge is OK if the pointer is positioned at the right red mark (reserve) as shown.
- Press buttons 0 and 1.
- Press Q button to confirm input.

Channel 1 Adaptation 128 ->

The adaptation value can now be entered in steps or directly.
NOTE: When entering a value higher than 255, the function "Adaptation" is ended and must be started again with function "10 Adaptation."
Entering step-by-step:
- Using button 1, the adaptation value can be entered using button 3 down to value 0, and up to value 255. Example: 215.

- If a wrong value was entered, the function "Adaptation" is ended and must be started again with function "10-Adaptation".

Adaptation of service indicator for oil change service (distance)
With this function the interval value (distance in km) can be entered for the next oil change.
- Press buttons 0 and 5.

NOTE:
- The entry of the applicable value is only possible in increments of 1000 km which are then also shown on the display.
- Also in countries with odometers in miles, the adaptation must be made in km. It is necessary to convert miles into km (miles x 1.609 = kilometers).
- When replacing the instrument cluster
- With the VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST), only direct entry is possible.
- If a mistake was made during the entry, function "Adaptation" is ended and has to be started again.

Adaptation of service indicator for Inspection Service I (distance)

Adaptation of Kilometer-/mile display
With this function the kilometer/miles display can be activated when the instrument cluster is replaced.
NOTE:
- Adaptation is only possible for an instrument cluster showing less than 100 km.
- Adaptation for each instrument cluster can be done only once.
- Only a higher adaptation value can be entered.
- After confirming an entered value it cannot be corrected. If the value is wrong the instrument cluster must be replaced
- Also in countries with odometers in miles, the adaptation must be made in km. It is necessary to convert miles into km (miles x 1.609 = kilometers)
