Differential Fluid - A/T: Testing and Inspection

Front Final Drive Fluid Level, Checking and Topping Off

Required special tools:






^ Tray V.A.G 1306

^ Warm up gear oil in final drive to approximately 60°C (140°F) by briefly driving the car.
^ Drive vehicle onto lift and let gear oil settle for about two minutes.

Note:

The vehicle must be level.

^ Position drip tray V.A.G 1306.






^ Remove plug -arrow-.

The fluid level must reach the lower edge of the filler opening.

^ Top up transmission fluid if necessary.

Note:

Always replace the O-ring on the filler plug.

Tightening torque

Filler plug M18: 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
