Code Control module (function 07)
NOTE:
- If the correct coding for the vehicle is not displayed, or if the control module has been replaced, the control module must be coded.
- Coding is checked via VAS5051 or VAG1551 scan tool.
- During control module identification a 5-digit code must always be displayed.
- Incorrect coding may lead to higher emissions and increased strain on the automatic transmission resulting from harsh gearshift jolts.
- Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS5051 or VAG1551 scan tool and select engine electronics control module by entering address word "01". Connecting VAS 5051 Scan Tool
When doing this the ignition must be switched ON.

- Press buttons -0- and -7- to select function "Code Control Module" and confirm entry with -Q- button.

Input code number xxxxx (0-32000)
- Input appropriate code number for this vehicle and confirm with -Q- button.
Determine the code number according to the following example:
The display of VAG1551 will show the control module coding (example).

- Press -> button.

Select function XX
- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select function "End Output" and confirm entry with -Q- button.
- Switch ignition off and then on again.
NOTE: The next time the ignition is switched ON the newly entered coding will be activated.
