Center Steering Rack Assembly

NOTE: A second technician is required to perform this procedure







Centering The Steering
- Cross-sectional view of steering gear:
1 Screw plug for centering hole (used during normal operation of steering gear)
2 VAG 1907; thread in as far as possible by hand
3 Rack
4 Steering gear housing
- The steering wheel must be turned back and forth across its center position while a second technician carefully threads VAG 1907 into the steering gear until engagement in the centering hole is perceptible.
