Contact Corrosion
With the extensive use of aluminum construction, corrosion caused by contact between dissimilar metals may result if the wrong fastening components (screws, bolts, nuts, washers, rivets, plugs, grommets, adhesives, etc.) are installed.

For this reason, the manufacturer only installs fastening components that have a special surface coating (Dachromet), recognized by its greenish color, and only uses rubber parts, plastic parts and adhesives that are electrically non-conductive.

These parts, compatible for use with aluminum, are also available as replacement parts.

Use only Genuine Parts.

If there is any doubt about whether the old parts are suitable for re-use, always install new replacement parts.

All accessories must be approved by Audi of America, Inc.

Damage from contact corrosion caused by improper assembly with unsuitable parts is NOT covered under warranty!

WARNING:
^ If the vehicle is on a lift and the rear suspension is to be compressed in order to tighten fasteners for rubber bushings, the vehicle must be protected from tipping over. To do so, place a load of approximately 100 kg (220 lbs) in the trunk (e.g. water in cannisters, sand bags) before compressing the suspension.
^ Do not re-use any fasteners that are worn or deformed in normal use.
^ Some fasteners are designed to be used only once, and are unreliable and may fail if used a second time. This includes, but is not limited to, nuts, bolts, washers, circlips and cotter pins. Always follow the recommendations in these instructions-replace these fasteners with new parts where indicated, and any other time it is deemed necessary by inspection.


CAUTION:
^ Welding and realignment work is not permissible on rear axle components.
^ If a vehicle from which the drive axle has been removed has to be moved, an outer CV joint must be installed in place of the drive axle to prevent damage to the wheel bearing.
^ All fasteners on the rear axle that connect control arms to wheel bearing housings or subframes must only be tightened with the vehicle standing on its wheels.
