Customer complaint about a loud Whining Noise from engine compartment during a cold start.
Whining Noise comes from Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Motor -V101-.

Service
Check the following components of the Secondary Air Injection System for proper function (see Repair Manual for the vehicle you are working on).
- All vacuum supply hoses for the secondary air Combi-Valves for sufficient vacuum.
- Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Valve -N112- (actuate Short Trip in MVB 077/078).
- Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Relay -J299- (make sure, Part No: 8D0 951 253 A is installed).
Install correct part as necessary.

- Replace faulty components as necessary.
Regardless if faulty components were found and replaced, if the noise complaint of Secondary Air Injection Pump -V101- still exists:
