Four-Wheel Pneumatic System, Electrical Check
Four-wheel pneumatic system, electrical check
^ It is necessary in vehicles in which the On Board Diagnostic (OBD) system does not provide any clues to the source of the malfunction to perform the complete electrical test.
^ In vehicles in which the On Board Diagnostic (OBD) system provides a direct clue to the source of the malfunction, only the test steps recommended in the DTC table need to be performed (systematic starting-point).
Test preconditions
^ Ensure correct multiple connection between the wiring harness and control module J197 and the double plug-type connection, i.e., check whether any contacts are bent, broken or corroded. Any damaged contacts must be repaired using wiring harness repair set VAS1978.
^ Before starting testing, switch off the ignition and electrical loads such as the headlights, interior lighting, fans, etc.
^ Only use suitable tools, etc., from VAG1594 for creating contact.
The following measuring and other equipment is needed:
^ Adapter Set VAG 1594
^ Hand-held multimeter VAG1526
^ Test Box VAG1598/35 with Y cable for connection to wiring harness and self leveling suspension system J197
Contact assignment of multi-pin connector I-18-pin - on wiring harness/self leveling suspension system J197
Control module connection to valve block, compressor and relay.
Contact assignment of multi-pin connector II - 50-pin - to wiring harness/self leveling
suspension system J197 Control module connection to operating unit, level senders, CAN-BUS and HRC power supply.
Contact assignment 18-pin Connector
Contact 1 through 18
Contact assignment 50-pin connector
Contact 1 through 16
Contact 17 through 34
Contact 35 Through 50
Notes on the check table
^ Incorrectly performed can cause damage to the system. No bridges other than the connections stated in the check table may be implemented.
^ The target values are tailored to the VAG1526 and are not necessarily relevant if other instruments are used.
^ Please perform the troubleshooting procedures shown on the right-hand side of the table if the figures measured diverge from the target figures
^ If the figures are correct, also check the wiring for loose contacts and short circuiting to positive and Ground (GND). This is necessary in the case of "sporadic malfunctions", in particular
^ Perform the continuity tests (bridging) using adapter set VAG1594.
^ If the figures measured diverge from the targets only slightly, clean the sockets and pins of the test instruments and measuring leads using G 000 700 04 contact spray and perform test again. Check the leads and connections again before replacing the components involved. This is particularly important if the target value for measurement of resistance is below 10 Ohms.
Activation measuring: Voltage measurement 20 V=
Test step 1 and 2
Test step 3 and 4
Test step 5 and 6
Test step 7 and 8
1)When the boot is loaded, the voltage rises and then stabilizes again to average regulation system.
Function test: Self leveling suspension system indicator light -K134
Test step 8 (continued)
Function test: Measurement of resistance, measuring range 200 Ohms
Test step 9 through 12
Test step 13 through 15
