Safety requirements when working with pyrotechnic belt tensioner
- Testing, assembly and repair work should only be conducted by trained personnel.
- When connecting belt tensioner all mechanical parts, even the three-point seat belt must be fastened correctly.
- Only the technician working on seat belts should be inside the vehicle.
- The cable should not be bent more than 270 degrees.
- Belt tensioner parts should not be opened or repaired. Always use new parts.
- Belt tensioner units which have dropped from a height of more than 50 cm , faulty or damaged, should not be installed into vehicles.
- Belt tensioner units, which are mechanically damaged (bubbles, tears) must always be replaced.
- The installation of belt tensioner units should occur immediately after removing from transport container.
- If work is interrupted place belt tensioner unit into transport container again.
- The open end of the belt tensioner should never be pointed toward people.
- After touching ignited belt tensioner wash hands.
- Storage and transport fall under the law for explosive materials.
- Leaving a belt tensioner lying around not monitored is not permissible.
- Belt tensioner should not come in contact with grease, cleaning and similar solutions.
- Belt tensioner unit must not be exposed to temperatures over 100 degrees C, flying sparks or open fire.
