Special tools and equipment
- VAS 5051 or VAG 1551

Test sequence
- Connect Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 or VAG 1551, tester and select control module for engine electronics 1 by inserting address word 01. Engine must be running at for this test. Connecting VAS 5051/VAG1551 Scan Tool

- Press buttons -0- and -8- to select "Read Measuring Value Block" function 08 and press Q button to confirm input.

Indicated on display:


Read measuring value block
Enter display group number XXX


- Press buttons -0-, -1-and -4-to input "display group number 14" and press Q button to confirm input.

Indicated on display:


Read measuring value block 14 ->
1 2 3 4


- Check misfire detection.

Display Group 014:

If the specified value is reached:
- Press -> button. Indicated on display (funktion selection):

Testing misfiring recognition of each cylinder







Display on VAS 5051:
- Check misfiring recognition in display zones -1- to -4-.

Display Group 015:

- Press the [up arrow] button to advance to Display group 016.







Display on VAS 5051:
- Check misfiring recognition in display zones -1- and -4-.

Display Group 016:

- Press the <- button to exit from the function "08 - Read data block".


Evaluation of Display groups 014, 15 and 16, Display zone 3:
