Preparing old undamaged window for glazing

- When reusing an undamaged window, cut back remaining adhesive sealing material on the windshield glass and body flange until it is even using electric cutter V.A.G 1561 and scraper V.A.G 1561/10. Do not remove adhesive sealing material completely.
- The remaining material is required as a base for the newly applied adhesive sealing material.

CAUTION:
- Keep bonding surface free of dirt and grease.
- Do not cut back bonding surface until shortly before installing glass.
- Do not prime bonding surface or use cleaning solution.

Preparing new window for glazing:
- Clean all round bonding surface of glass using cleaning solution D 009 401 04.
- Prime bonding surface with D 009 200 02 as described below.

CAUTION: The ceramic coating on the glass is not a primer. The glass must always be primed before applying adhesive sealing material.

- Using applicator - 1 -, apply primer - 2 - evenly in one pass.
- Start application with felt pad saturated with primer.
- Allow primer to dry in air for approx. 10 minutes.
Width of primer coat - a - = approx. 20 mm.
- Apply primer centrally in relation to adhesive bead.

Repaired windshield flange
- If the windshield flange has been repaired or replaced, the paintwork must be restored and corrosion protection applied if necessary.
- Clean the repaired area with D 009 401 04, then prime with D 009 200 02.
