Rear Lid And Tailgate Lock, Removing, Installing And Adjusting







1 - Rear lid

Removing:
- Remove tailgate lining.
- Disconnect and remove all electric wiring from tailgate.
- A second person is required to lift off tailgate
- Remove gas-filled struts on left and right.
- Unscrew hexagon bolts securing both tailgate hinges to tailgate.
- Take off tailgate.

Installing:
- Install in reverse order.







Adjusting:

NOTE: Gas-filled struts must be in place before performing adjustments on new tailgate.

- Vertical and horizontal adjustment of tailgate can be made via tailgate hinges.
- Height adjustment at bottom is made via tailgate lock
- Align tailgate centrally to give specified panel gaps Fig. 1.
- Adjust stop buffers - 2 -.

2 - Stop buffers (2x)

3 - Pop rivet
- To remove, drill off rivet head and knock out shank
4 - Cover trim
- Unclip
5 - Combi bolt
- 12 Nm
6 - Striker plate

Adjusting:
- Tighten combi bolt - 5 - finger-tight (striker plate should still be movable).
- Carefully close tailgate until flush with rear side panels.
- Carefully open the tailgate and tighten combi bolts to 12 Nm.

7 - Rear lid hinge







8 - Combi bolt
- 8 Nm
9 - Rear lid lock
- To remove, unscrew bolts - 8 - and disengage cable for tailgate lock.
10 - Rear lid lock cable
11 - Protective cap
- Self-adhesive; remove backing paper before installing
