Passenger Side Airbag, Removing And Installing
CAUTION: Always read updated safety regulations for performing repair work on airbag.
1 Passenger side airbag unit
- Removing:
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- Remove glove box.
- Unplug connector -5-.
WARNING: Never unplug red two-pin connector at passenger side airbag unit.
- Remove screws -3- (4x).
- Remove airbag unit.
- Remove screws -2- (4x).
- Set down airbag unit with impact cushion facing upward.
- Installing
- Install airbag unit.
- Ensure that connector -5- engages properly (audible click).
- Switch ignition on.
WARNING: Make sure no one is in vehicle when connecting battery.
- Connect battery Ground (GND) strap.
2 Screws (4x)
- Tightening torque: 12 Nm (9 ft lb)
- Must be replaced if airbag has triggered
3 Screws (4x)
- Tightening torque: 12 Nm (9 ft lb)
- Must be replaced if airbag has triggered
4 Support
- Must be replaced if airbag has been triggered
- Remove airbag unit.
- Remove screws -2- (4x).
5 Connector

- Use screwdriver to lift connector -1 - for front passenger side airbag over retainer tab -2- and pull off connector in direction of arrow -3-.
NOTE:
- After connecting battery, check vehicle equipment (radio, clock, electric windows) as per Owner's Manual.
- If the Airbag Warning Light -K75- signals a malfunction after assembling, then DTC memory must be erased and checked again using VAG1551 scan tool.
