(Determine adjustment shim size for input shaft)

Re - adjustment of the input shaft is essential if the following components were replaced:
^ Transmission housing
^ Clutch housing
^ Input shaft or the
^ Tapered roller bearing

^ Determined adjustment shims for both input shafts are installed
- Press tapered roller bearing outer race into transmission housing to stop without adjustment shim.





- Set both pinion shafts and input shaft into clutch housing and install transmission housing Tighten hex - bolts to 25 Nm + 1/8 turn (45°).
- Install universal gauge and dial gauge in clutch housing.





- Turn input shaft before measuring procedure so that the tapered roller bearings set. Set dial indicator to O with 1 mm preload.

Notes: Repeat ibis procedure for every additional measurement, because otherwise the dial gauge does not return to initial position.

- Pull input shaft in direction of dial gauge.
- Read play on dial gauge and note (example 1.63).





- Thickness of adjustment shim from table, Refer to Overhaul Subassemblies, Input Shaft Adjusting determining (example 1.60)
- Remove transmission housing and pull tapered roller bearings outer race out of transmission housing.
A- support, i.e. Kukko 22/2
B - extractor, e.g. Kukko 21/7>
- Press in tapered roller bearing outer race together with adjustment shim 1.60 into transmission housing.
- Install transmission housing and tighten hex - bolt to 25 Nm + 1/8 turn (45°).
