Power Steering Pump: Description and Operation

There is no provision for repairing the power steering pump. In case of malfunction, determine cause with the help of pressure and leakage tests. If a fault exists, replace power steering pump.

Notes:
- Pumps supplied as spare parts are not filled with fluid. For this reason, the pump must be filled with G 002 000 hydraulic fluid and rotated by hand before installation. The pump may otherwise be damaged or noisy during operation.
- Fluid system capacity: 0.7 - 0. 9 liters.
- Do not reuse drained hydraulic fluid.
- Replace O - rings.

- The following illustration shows the belt drive on vehicles without air conditioner.





- Mark the direction of rotation before removing the ribbed belt. If the belt rotates in the wrong direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage. Ensure that the belt is properly seated in the pulleys when installing.
