Clutch system, bleeding
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Brake filling and bleeding unit VAS 5234
- Brake fluid specification
Note:
^ Open bleed valve before switching on bleeding appliance.
^ When performing the following steps, make sure that no brake fluid escapes onto the transmission.
^ Performing work on the hydraulic clutch mechanism the clutch system must be bled.
^ Pull out clutch pedal and fill brake fluid reservoir with brake fluid up to maximum mark before bleeding.
- Connect brake filling and bleeding unit VAS 5234, but do not turn on at this time.
- If installed, remove noise insulation beneath transmission.
- Connect bleeder hose -A- to slave cylinder (arrow) and open bleeder valve.
- Connect bleed hose to pressure hose of collector bottle.
- Switch on bleeding appliance and allow about 100 cm3 of brake fluid to flow out.
^ Working pressure 2.5 bar
Note: Make sure bleed hose is correctly installed during bleeding operation.
^ Tighten bleed valve to 4.5 Nm.
^ Depress clutch pedal several times after bleeding process.
^ Bleed again if necessary.
