Guide link, removing and installing
Removing
- Remove wheel trim; pull trim cap off light-alloy wheels (puller in vehicle tool kit).
- Remove wheel.
If necessary, support joint pin with 4 mm Allen key.
- Secure brake disc with wheel bolt.
- Remove brake caliper - if applicable - and secure to body.
- Unscrew nut from joint pin of guide link.
Note:
^ For safety reasons, screw collared nut at joint pin of guide link back on again approximately 4 turns so that it is flush.
^ Make sure that both lever arms are parallel to one another when maximum force is expended, re-adjust if necessary.
- Unscrew nut from joint pin of guide link and press off joint pin.
Take care not to damage boot when doing so.
- Loosen hex bolt -1-.
Take care not to damage surface of brake lines and undercoating.
- Lower rear subframe.
- Unscrew hex bolts -2- and -3-.
- Take out guide link.
Installing
Note:
^ Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. The bolted joints at the suspension links are therefore not to be tightened until the vehicle is standing on the ground.
^ Always replace nuts and bolts.
- Tighten nut at joint pin to 125 Nm.
- Tighten to 90 Nm plus additional 90° turn.
- Tighten item -2- to 110 Nm plus additional 90° turn.
- Tighten hex bolts -3-.
Tightening torque: 55 Nm
- Install brake disc, bolt on brake caliper, if applicable.
