Steering: Service and Repair
Power steering pump, reservoir and hydraulic lines, overview (vehicles with 4-Cyl. engine)
Power steering pump repair work is not planned. In the event of complaints, perform a pressure test and leak test to establish the cause. Replace the power steering pump if malfunction is found.
Note:
^ Always check steering system for leaks in the event of a lack of fluid in the reservoir.
^ If a leak is found in the area of the line connections, start by checking connections for leaks, re-tighten if necessary and wipe dry.
^ Replacement pumps are supplied without fluid. Prior to installation they are to be filled with hydraulic fluid G 002 000 and turned by hand to avoid any possibility of noise while driving or pump damage.
