Adaptation (Function 10)

Adaptation

NOTE:
- The idling speed can be decreased or increased by using the "Adaptation" function, channel 01.
- Only perform the idling speed adaptation described in the following: in order to eliminate vibration noises or they are the cause of a customer complaint.

Procedure
- Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS5051 and select vehicle system "01 - Engine electronics" in selection. Engine must be running at idling speed. Connecting VAS 5051 Scan Tool

Display on VAS5051:






- Under -1- select diagnostic function "10 - Adaptation".

1 - Enter channel number - Enter "01" for "Adaptation channel 011" and confirm by pressing -Q- button.

5 - The scroll bar indicates the current adaptation value

NOTE:
- Adaptation value 128 is the factory-set idling speed.
- Adaptation can be performed by moving the scroll bar, or by simply entering the new adaptation value.

A - Changing the adaptation value using the scroll bar

Display on VAS5051:







- Move scroll bar -5- in desired direction or click on area next to scroll bar, which will move it in desired direction.
- Press "Save" button -4-.

NOTE: An engine speed decrease follows immediately, an increase in engine speed is only effective after briefly pressing the accelerator pedal.

B - Adaptation by direct entry

- Press "Keypad" button -3-.

1 - Enter adaptation value
- Enter desired 5-digit adaptation value in zone -2- and confirm entry by pressing -Q- button.
