Front and Rear Midrange Door Speaker, Checking

Supersedes T.B. Group 91 number 04-11 dated June 25, 2004 due to changes in warranty information.
Condition
Front midrange door speakers (-R26- & -R27-) and Rear midrange door speakers (-R34- & -R35-) may intermittently stop working due to speaker electrical contact touching crossbar of window. Condition may also be perceived as a crackling.
Production
Affects vehicles built prior to the VINs shown.
Service
When one speaker exhibits above condition, repair all applicable midrange door speakers on vehicle.
CAUTION!
Part numbers listed in this TB are for reference only. Always check with your Parts Dept. for the latest parts information.
Apply 1" X 3" felt strip(s) (Part No. 533 867 910A) to window crossbar as follows:
- Using special tool -3370- unclip speaker/trim cover assembly -1-.
Note:
It is not necessary to disconnect speaker electrical connections.
- On front midrange door speakers, apply one 1" X 3" felt strip to window crossbar (at arrows).
- Felt strip installed.
- On rear midrange door speakers, apply two 1"X 3" felt strips to window crossbar (at arrows).
^ Felt strips installed.
- Install door speakers.
- Using VAS 5051/52 diagnostic tool, interrogate and erase any DTCs from address word "56 - Radio".
When procedure applies to vehicles within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, use the table shown.
