Transmission, installing
Install in reverse sequence, note the following points:
Note:
^ Secure all hose connections with the correct hose clips (same as original equipment). See Supplier
^ Before installing a replacement transmission, always blow through the ATF cooler and ATF lines with compressed air (no more than 10 bar).
^ When performing repairs, replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
^ Replace bolts which have a specified tightening angle as well as seals and gaskets.
^ All cable ties which are opened or cut open on removal must be replaced in the same position when installing.
- Before installing transmission, tie electrical wiring to one side so that it cannot be trapped between engine and transmission.
- Check whether dowel sleeves for centralizing engine/transmission are in cylinder block, install if necessary.
- Install intermediate plate or spacer plate on dowel sleeves.
- Press selector shaft lever -A- at transmission to rear as far as it will go (arrow) until parking lock engages.
- Lift transmission carefully and move it to installation position with transmission support 3282.
- Secure transmission to engine.
Note:
^ The tightening torques listed in this information apply only to lightly greased, oiled, phosphated, or black-finished nuts and bolts.
^ Additional lubricant such as engine or transmission oil may be used, but do not use graphite lubricant.
^ Do not use degreased parts.
^ Tolerance for tightening torques is ± 15%.
Bottom engine/transmission securing bolts
Note: The following steps are required when installing the bottom engine/transmission bolts.
Cabriolet
- Using support bar 10-222 A, lift engine until two nuts -3- (on left and right sides) come into contact with bottom of mount.
All models
- Before inserting the lower set of bolts connecting transmission with engine, lift transmission up slightly at rear.
- Tighten four bottom engine /transmission bolts to specified torque.
Cabriolet
- Lower engine to original position.
- Tighten nuts -3- on left and right engine mounts.
