Input Shaft, Adjusting

Input shaft, adjusting
(determining circlips for input shaft)

Special tools and workshop equipment required

^ 30-100 Press tube

^ 3167 Spacer gauge
^ Depth gauge

It is necessary to readjust input shaft when the:
^ Transmission housing
^ Input shaft

or
^ Ball bearing
are replaced.

- Clamp input shaft in vice using soft jaws -A-.
- Place distance gauge 3167 onto 3rd gear sliding gear.
- Place transmission housing over input shaft onto the distance gauge.

- Place depth gauge onto transmission housing and measure to the lower circlip groove in the input shaft.
^ Measurement in following example: -a- = 28.50 mm

- Place depth gauge onto transmission housing and measure to seat surface for ball bearing.
^ Measurement in following example: -b- = 26.80 mm

Determining circlip x behind the input shaft ball bearing.
Formula:
x = Dimension a - dimension b
Example:
Dimension a 28.50 mm
Dimension b 26.80 mm
Dimension x (thickness of 1.70 mm circlip)

Determining the circlip in front of the input shaft ball bearing
- Knock rear circlip (as calculated) and ball bearing onto input shaft with fitting sleeve 30100.

- Determine the thickest circlip which will still fit.
