Input Shaft, Adjusting
Input shaft, adjusting
(Determining input shaft circlips)
Special tools and workshop equipment required
^ 30-100 Press tube
^ 3167 Distance gauge
^ Depth slide gauge
Input shaft must be re-adjusted if
^ Transmission housing
^ Input shaft
or
^ Ball bearing
is/are replaced.
- Clamp input shaft with soft jaws -A- in vice.
- Position distance gauge 3167 on 3rd gear sliding gear.
- Position transmission housing over input shaft onto distance gauge.
- Position depth slide gauge on transmission housing and measure up to lower groove for circlip in input shaft.
^ Measured value in following example: -a- = 28.50 mm
- Position depth slide gauge on transmission housing and measure up to contact surface of ball bearing.
^ Measured value in following example: -b- = 26.80 mm
Determining circlip behind ball bearing for input shaft
Formula:
x = dimension a - dimension b
Example:
Dimension a 28.50 mm
Dimension b 26.80 mm
Dimension x (circlip thickness) 1.70 mm

Determining circlip in front of ball bearing for input shaft
- Drive determined rear circlip and ball bearing onto input shaft using Press tube 30-100.
- Determine and install thickest circlip which can still just about be inserted.
- Determine circlip as accurately as possible using chart. Part numbers go to Parts catalog
