Remote Control Keys, Matching/memory Positions, Erasing
Two remote control keys are supplied with the vehicle.
If new or additional ignition keys are required, they have to be matched to the central locking control module.
The vehicle keys also have to be matched to the immobilizer control electronics.
Furthermore, key re-matching is necessary if one of the faults 00955 to 00958 is displayed.
Methods of matching remote control keys:
- The procedure for remote control key matching without second key is described in adaptation channel 21. Matching of remote control keys via adaptation function.
- The steps described in the following should be implemented for remote control key matching using second key.
Sequence of operations for matching new remote control keys
- Unlock vehicle from outside by way of driver's door lock.
- Switch on ignition (with additional key).
- Check display zone 3 in measuring value block 007 to establish how many keys have already been matched. Evaluating Measuring Value Blocks
Indicated on display:
Read Measuring Value Block 7 ->
0 0000 1100
Display zone 3 shows the number of remote control keys matched and their memory positions (example shows 2 keys in positions 1 and 2).
- Lock vehicle from outside by way of driver's door lock using key to be matched.
- Within 5 s keep pressing "Open" button of remote control key until next memory position is reached (3 times in example).
The hazard warning lights flash each time the button is pressed.
- Wait 5 seconds.
- Then press "Open" button again. Vehicle is unlocked. Key has been successfully matched
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Check function of new remote control key.
- Check display zone 3 in measuring value block 007. Another "1" must now have been added (in example: 1110). Evaluating Measuring Value Blocks
NOTE:
- Care is to be taken to ensure that new keys are always matched to vacant memory positions. If use is made of a memory position already occupied (can be seen from "1"), the matched remote control key already allocated to this memory position will no longer function.
- Successful adaptation can be established by way of Read Measuring Value Block function (function 08), display group number 007. Evaluating Measuring Value Blocks
- A maximum of four keys can be matched
- The matching process must be completed within 30 s. The procedure has to be repeated if this time span is exceeded.
Sequence of operations for re-matching existing remote control keys
NOTE: This procedure has to be implemented after replacing battery in remote control key and if one, of the faults 00955 to 00958 is displayed.
- Press any button on remote control key.
If vehicle is not locked/unlocked:
- Lock and unlock vehicle via driver's door lock within 30 s.
- Then check function of re-matched remote control key.
If vehicle is still not locked/unlocked, new key matching process must be implemented. Matching remote control keys.
Erasing memory positions
Memory positions can be erased if, for example, a customer has lost a remote control key.
- Switch on ignition with key.
- Use key to lock vehicle from outside by way of driver's door lock.
- Press "Open" button on remote control key 5 times at intervals of one second.
NOTE: The hazard warning lights flash each time the button is pressed.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- This erases the memory positions; central locking must not be unlocked on pressing "Remote controlled opening" button.
- Check display zone 3 in measuring value block 007. Evaluating Measuring Value Blocks
All memory positions must have been erased and thus set to "0" (in example: 0000).
- A maximum of four keys can now be matched again.
