On-Star(R) Cannot Locate Vehicle

Condition

On-Star(R) cannot locate vehicle. Other On-Star(R) functions are normal; navigation system works fine.

Technical Background

May be caused by an incorrectly routed antenna cable.

Service








1. Switch antenna connections from antenna splitter (R87) (Figure 1) and the control module for the navigation unit (J401) (Figure 2).

The antenna splitter (R87) is located in the L.R. rear luggage compartment storage box. (See Repair Manual >> Repair group 91 >> Radio, Telephone, Navigation, Trip computer >> Telematics.)

The control module for the navigation unit (J401) also is located in the L.R. rear luggage compartment storage box. (See Repair Manual >> Repair group 91 >> Radio, Telephone, Navigation, Trip computer >> Telematics.)

2. Read and clear DTCs in collection services.

3. With vehicle outside in a clear area, test system as follows:

^ Press large blue On-Star button to connect with an On-Star(R) advisor and ask if they can locate the vehicle.

^ If vehicle can be located, program a route destination in the navigation system. Perform a short road test to verify operation.
