Radio, Will Not Turn On, Radio Illuminates at a Very Low Intensity

Condition

Radio will not turn ON, radio illuminates at a very low intensity.

Removing radio fuse or disconnecting radio connector and reinstalling (after approx. 10 seconds) results in correct operation of radio.

Service

- Connect the VAS 5051 or VAS 5052 Diagnostic tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).

- Switch ignition ON.

- From Diagnostic tool Start-up screen, select "Vehicle self diagnosis".





- Select Address Word 56 "Radio" (arrow).





- Check software level (arrow). If software level is 0008 or above, Software has been updated to correct this condition:

- Continue with radio diagnostics.

If software level is below 0008:

- Replace radio, (code as necessary see Guided Fault Finding - A6, A4-(B6) models forth; S4, A8 models see Repair Manual).

- Clear any stored DICs.

- Check correct operation of radio functions.

- Program Client's preset radio stations.

Note:
Radios supplied by Parts Depots have updated software.

During the Perfect Delivery Inspection, check the radio Software level and replace as necessary
