Radio, Will Not Turn On, Radio Illuminates at a Very Low Intensity

Model(s):
All with Symphony II Radio 2002

Condition

Radio will not turn ON, radio illuminates at a very low intensity.

Removing radio fuse or disconnecting radio connector and reinstalling (after approx. 10 seconds) results in correct operation of radio.

Service

- Connect the VAS 5051/VAS 5052 Diagnostic tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).

- Switch ignition ON.

- From Diagnostic tool Start-up screen, select "Vehicle self diagnosis".





- Select Address Word 56 "Radio" (arrow).





- Check software level (arrow).

If software level is 0007 or 0050, Software has been updated to correct this condition:

- Continue with radio diagnostics.

If software level is 0004 (shown) or 0005:

- Replace radio, (code as necessary see Guided Fault Finding - A6, (B6-A4) models see Repair Manual - TT, 54, A8 models).

- Clear any stored DTC's.

- Check correct operation of radio functions.

- Program Client's preset radio stations.

Note:
Radios supplied by Parts Depots have updated software.
