Shift Mechanism, Disassembling and Assembling

Note: Removing and installing locking spring for interlock cable see Fig. 1.





Disassembling
- Remove shift lock solenoid -3- Refer to Shift Interlock.
- Remove securing plate -5- (1.5 mm) and -11- (0.5 mm) from bushing.
- Remove bushings -6- and - 10- from gearshift lug -16-
- Remove selector lever-7- (in Tiptronic position) from gearshift lug -16-

Assembling
- Insert selector lever-7- into gearshift lug -16- and hook in follower -14-.
- Press bushings -6- and -10 into gearshift lug (only possible in one position).
- Slide securing plates -5- (1.5 mm) and -11- (0.5 mm) onto bushings.
- Install shift lock solenoid -3- Refer to Shift Interlock.

Removing
- To remove interlock cable, lift top of spring -arrow B- slightly.
- Disengage spring from retainer tab -arrow C- and lift out.

Installing
- Insert spring from above -arrow B- and engage at retainer tab -arrow C-.
- Align spring so that it lies flat along groove -arrow A-.
