Guide Link, Steel Wheel Bearing Housing

Removing
^ Take off wheel.





^ Remove collar nut -2- from ball joint of guide link.

Note: For ease of illustration, drive axle is not shown.





^ Use special tool to detach ball joint from tapered seat.





^ Remove guide link from subframe -1-
^ Rear of subframe has to be lowered to enable guide link bolt with washer to be removed.
^ This involves unscrewing hex bolts -3- of support plates and subframe bolts 2-.

Pay special attention to the information when installing
^ Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. Subframe/guide link bolted joints should therefore only be tightened when the vehicle is standing on the ground.

Tightening torques
^ Guide link to wheel bearing housing: 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.)





^ Guide link -1- to subframe: 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.) plus additional 90 ° turn
^ Always replace subframe bolts and washers: 150 Nm (111 ft. lbs.) plus additional 90° turn
^ Hex bolts -3- of support plates: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
