Front Final Drive, Servicing
CAUTION!
If file ATF oil pan is removed, or there is no ATF in the transmission, DO NOT start the engine or tow file vehicle.
Notes:
^ The items shown in the following illustration can be removed while the transmission is installed.
^ Rules of cleanliness for working on the automatic transmission.
^ Refer to general repair instructions.
^ Coat O-rings and sealing rings with ATF. Other types of lubricants lead to malfunctions in the hydraulic transmission control.
1 - Adjustment shim
^ Location: behind bearing race
^ Shim is correct size and must not be replaced with one of different size
2 - Bearing race
^ Remove and install by hand
3 - O-ring
^ Always replace
^ Coat with gear oil
4 - Filler plug
^ Tighten to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
^ Remove to check final drive fluid level
5 - Bolt
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18ft. lbs.)
^ Tapered head
6 - Drive flange, right
7 - Sealing ring
^ For right drive flange
8 - Bolt
^ Tighten to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)
^ Note tightening sequence
9 - Differential cover
10 - Shim
^ Location: behind bearing race
^ Shim is correct size and must not be replaced with one of different size
11 - Bearing race
^ Remove and install by hand
12 - O-ring
13 - Differential gear
14 - Bolt
^ Tighten to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)
15 - Intermediate
^ flange for front final drive
16 - Distributor gear
17 - Fitting sleeve
18 - Gasket
19 - Clamping sleeve
^ For transmission selector lever
^ When installing, push from back to front into transmission selector lever
20 - Transmission
^ selector lever
21 - Sealing ring
^ For transmission range selector lever shaft
22 - Bolt
^ Tighten to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)
23 - Sealing ring
^ For left drive flange
24 - Impulse wheel
^ For speedometer Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) -G22-
25 - Drive flange, left
26 - Bracket for left drive flange
27 - Ball bearing for left drive flange
28 - Circlip
^ For ball bearing
29 - O-ring for left drive flange
