Battery

The battery is one of the most important electrical components in the vehicle. Its proper functioning is a major factor in ensuring customer satisfaction. To guarantee a long service life, the battery must be checked, serviced and maintained as described in this manual.

In addition to its function of starting the vehicle, the battery performs other tasks as a buffer and a source of electrical energy for the vehicle's entire electrical system.


CAUTION!
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
- Obtain the anti-theft radio security code.
- Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.
- After reconnecting vehicle battery, re-code and check operation of anti-theft radio. Also check operation of clock and power windows.

1 - Pay attention to the notes on the battery
2 - Danger of acid burns
Battery acid is very caustic, wear protective gloves and eye protection.
Do not tilt the battery. Acid can come out of the vent openings.
3 - Fire, sparks, open flame, and smoking are prohibited:
Avoid producing sparks when handling cables and electrical devices.
Avoid short circuits.
4 - Wear eye protection.
5 - Keep children away from acid and batteries.
- Disposal:
Take old batteries to a collection point.
7 - Never dispose of old batteries in household trash!
8 - Danger of explosion:
Charging batteries produces a highly explosive oxyhydrogen gas mixture.
