Threads in longmember, repairing
Repairing the threads in the welded nuts in longmember is possible under certain circumstances.
^ Welded nuts must only be repaired once.
^ If thread repair is necessary a second time the welded nut must be replaced.

CAUTION!: Wear protective glasses when drilling!

^ Have shop foreman or next superior check thread repair.
^ Thread insert must have same length as thread in body.





1. Hex bolt, 75 Nm
2. Washer
3. Hex bolt
^ Always replace after removing
4. Upper rear link
5. Hex bolt, 5 Nm
6. Bolt
7. Self-locking nut, 50 Nm
^ Always replace after removing
8. Hex bolt
9. Self-locking nut, 40 Nm
^ Always replace after removing
10. Upper front link
11. Suspension strut
12. Hex bolt
^ Always replace after removing
13. Lower guide link
15. Wheel bearing housing
16. Hex bolt
^ Always replace after removing
M14 bolt:
^ 115 Nm plus additional 180° turn
M16 bolt:
^ 190 Nm plus additional 180° turn
17. Flange bolt, 10 Nm
18. Splash plate
19. Self-locking nut, 90 Nm
^ Always replace after removing
20. Hex bolt
21. Support for subframe
22. Hex bolt, 55 Nm
23. Hex bolt
^ 110 Nm plus additional 90° turn
^ Always replace after removing
24. Hex bolt
^ 40 Nm plus additional 90° turn
^ Always replace after removing
25. Link
26. Hex bolt
^ 40 Nm plus additional 90° turn
^ Always replace after removing
27. Lower track control link
^ In vehicles with headlight range control, heed removal and installation notes, Refer to Lighting and Horns, Head Lamp Alignment Sensor, Service and Repair.
28. Hex bolt M 12 x 1.5 x 85
^ Always replace after removing
29. Hex bolt, 75 Nm
^ Always replace after removing
30. Subframe
^ In vehicles with headlight range control, heed removal and installation notes, Refer to Lighting and Horns, Head Lamp Alignment Sensor, Service and Repair.
^ Removing and installing tunnel crossmember, Refer to Crossmember,service and Repair
31. Self-locking nut
^ 70 Nm plus additional 180°
^ Always replace after removing
32. Self-locking nut
^ 70 Nm plus additional 180°
^ Always replace after removing
33. Multi-point socket-head bolt
Tightening torques:
M8 bolt: 40 Nm
M10 bolt: 70 Nm
34. Double shim
35. Drive axle
36. Hex bolt
^ Always replace after removing
37. Self-locking nut
^ 50 Nm plus additional 90° turn
^ Always replace after removing
38. Collared nut
^ 60 Nm
