^ Component location
^ Removal and installation:
Fig. 14 Data Link Connector (DLC):
Component location: The DLC is located under the knee bolster to the left of the steering wheel.
Fig.15 Shift Lock Solenoid -N110-:
Component location: The Shift Lock Solenoid is located in the shift control mechanism -arrow-.
Fig. 16 Valve body:
Component location: The valve body is bolted underneath the transmission housing and is covered by the transmission oil pan.
Solenoid Valves -N88-, -N89-, -N90- and Pressure Control Valves 1 N215-, 2 -N216-, 3 -N217- and 4 -N218- are attached to the valve body.
Fig. 17 Internal transmission wiring harness with integrated Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor -G93-:
Component location: The wiring harness is attached to the valve body.
The wiring harness can be replaced with the transmission installed and the valve body removed.
Fig. 18 Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -F125-:
Component location: The Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch is located on the left side of the transmission, harness connector for Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -arrow-
Fig. 19 Tiptronic Switch -F189-:
Component location: The Tiptronic Switch is integrated into the circuit board for the icon insert which is located in the cover for the shift control mechanism.
It consists of 3 Hall sensors (A, B, C), which are energized by a solenoid on the transverse slide on the roll cover
A - Downshift switch sensor
B - Tiptronic recognition sensor
C - Upshift switch sensor
- If malfunctions occur test Tiptronic Switch in the Measured Value Block.
In the event of malfunctions, first check whether the solenoid is properly attached to the roll cover -C- transverse slide, if necessary replace transverse slide. The icon insert with the integrated circuit board must not be replaced until the wiring connections have been inspected. In the case of vehicles with multi-function steering wheel, the buttons on the steering wheel and their wiring must also be inspected.
Fig. 20 Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay -J60-:
Component location: On the relay carrier in the E-Box plenum.
4 - Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay -J60
Fig.21 Sender for transmission output RPM -G195-:
Component location: on sender or transmission is located in the transmission at the right rear
Fig.22 Sensor for Transmission RPM -G182:
Component location: The sensor -A- is a Hall sensor and is attached behind the valve body to the transmission housing.
Fig. 23 Transmission Range Selector Lever Display -Y6:
Component location: Integrated in the instrument cluster
Note: The Transmission Range (TR) Selector Lever Display can only be replaced together with the instrument cluster
Fig. 24 Kickdown Switch -F8-:
^ No mechanical switch; a specific value from the Throttle Position Sensor and the Sender for accelerator pedal position -G79-/-G185- is stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM)
Fig. 25 Brake light switch F:
Component location: The brake light switch -arrow- is located on the pedal cluster.
Note: In order to ensure adequately tight fit the switch must be installed only one time.
Fig. 26 Cruise Control Switch -E45-:
Component location: The Cruise Control Switch is located at the steering column switch.
