Fuel Tank With Attachments, Component Overview - Vehicles With 6-cylinder Engine And A6 Allroad
WARNING: Fire hazard. When working on the fuel system DO NOT smoke, work near heaters or have anything in the area that can ignite the fuel or fumes.
NOTE: The fuel filler neck with expansion tank can be exchanged separately.
1 Bolt M8 x 28 with attached washer
- 23 Nm (17 ft lb)

- Remains attached when removing tank

- From fuel filter
- To fuel rail
- Mark line before removal
- Flow of fuel to and from tank -arrow-
- Located in right front

10 Heat shield
- For fuel filler neck
11 Vent line
- Rear part
- To Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) canister
- Attached to upper part of fuel tank
- Remains attached when removing fuel tank
12 Bolt M8 x 28 with attached washer
- 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
- Used to fasten fuel filler neck and Ground (GND) wire -item 18-

- Installation position/checking procedure, See Fig. 1.
- Mount terminal with bolt (item -12-) for fuel filler neck
- After installing, measure resistance using multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) between metal ring of fuel filler neck and bare metal part of body. Specified value: approx. 0 Ohm

NOTE: Check installation position with fuel tank or fuel filler neck removed.
- Route and connect Ground wire as shown (arrow).
- Ensure that harness connector for Ground (GND) connection is properly seated on metal ring (Ground clamp) on fuel filler neck.
- Check if contact terminal (tongue) at fastening hole is properly locked in.
- Hold terminal tongue -1- with bolt -2- to fuel filler neck.
CAUTION:
After installing the expansion tank, use ohmmeter to check the electrical connection between metal (Ground clamp) ring on the fuel filler neck and bare metal part (Ground (GND) on Body.
