Kick-Down switch point, checking

If the sensor for accelerator pedal position or the Engine Control Module (ECM) is replaced on a vehicle with automatic transmission, the kick down function must be learned by the ECM.

- Connect Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System VAS5051 or VAG 1551 Scan Tool and select engine electronics control module by entering address word "01", [1][2]Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks. When doing this the ignition must be switched on.

- Depress accelerator pedal completely, past kick down point, and hold down.
- Hold accelerator pedal at least 2 seconds at wide open throttle.
