A/C control head -E87-, removing and installing

NOTE:
- Always check DTC memory before removing -E87-.
- Changes to model year 2000 > vehicles

After replacing -E87-, always:
- Check coding or enter new coding.
- Perform basic setting.
- Re-check DTC memory.
- If a newly installed A/C control head -E87- flashes after ignition is switched on, code -E87-, for more description refer to appropriate system.
- If 22 °C (71 °F) is always displayed after switching ignition off regardless of the last setting, check voltage supply to -E87- (terminal 30) using wiring diagram.
- The display of A/C control head -E87- (and exterior temperature display in instrument cluster) for version up to index "K" can be changed from °C to °F and vise versa by pressing the "Temperature left" (driver-side) with "circulating air button" pressed. The unit of display (°C or °F) for A/C control head -E87- as of index "M" is determined via the adaptation of the control module in instrument cluster (and transmitted to -E87- via the databus-system).

NOTE:
- -E87- can be operated for a certain time (up to about 30 minutes) after switching off the ignition by pressing the "Rest" button (residual heating). Operating time depends on charge condition of battery maximum about 10 minutes.
- For vehicles with Nippondenso compressor only A/C control heads beginning with Index "C" are to be or will be installed.
- If -E87- remains in operation after switching off the ignition, test cable connection to connector E terminal 7 for short circuit to positive (connection for auxiliary heating mode not foreseen for USA/Canada) using wiring diagram.
