Cooling system components, removing and installing

WARNING: Steam or hot coolant can escape when opening coolant expansion tank cap. Cover cap with a cloth, and open carefully.

Note:
^ When engine is warm, cooling system is under pressure. If necessary release pressure before commencing repair work.
^ Secure all hose connections with correct hose clamps (same as original equipment) See parts catalog.
^ V.A.G 1921 hose clip pliers are recommended when installing spring-type clips.
^ Replace seals and gaskets.
^ Arrow markings on coolant pipes and on ends of hoses must be aligned with each other.
