Engine and Transmission, Separating

Engine, separating from transmission

Special tools and equipment
^ Drip tray

Work sequence
^ Engine removed, Refer to Engine, Removing and Installing

Note:
^ All cable ties which are opened or cut open on removal must be replaced in same position when installing.
^ Any heat insulation sleeves which are taken off when removing must be re-attached in same position when installing.

- Place a drip tray underneath.
- Drain engine oil.
- Place engine/transmission assembly on work bench or engine/transmission floor.
Support/secure engine and transmission with pieces of squared timber.

WARNING:
^ Ensure that engine/transmission assembly rests safely to avoid risk of accident.
^ Relocate engine lifting tackle 3033 as described below before performing any further work on engine. The center of gravity shifts after unbolting transmission.

- Hook a second shackle 10-222 Al 2 onto front right engine lifting eye.
- Attach lifting tackle 3033 to shackles 10-222 A12 and hook onto workshop crane VAS 6100, as shown in this figure.
- Take up some of the weight of the engine with lifting tackle and workshop crane VAS 6100.
