Exhaust System: Adjustments


Exhaust system, alignment

Note: Align exhaust system when cold.

^ Vehicles without clamps between center muffler and rear muffler

- Loosen bolted connections on clamps -item 14-.





- Push exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow- until preloading at right-hand mounting of center muffler is a = 5 to 9 mm.
- Tighten bolted connections on clamps evenly to 40 Nm.
- Align tailpipes.

Note: Align front exhaust pipes with engine removed go.

^ Vehicles with clamps between center muffler and rear muffler

Note: It is only necessary to align center muffler on vehicles with clamps installed between center muffler and rear muffler.

- Loosen bolted connections on clamps -item 14-.





- Push front section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow until preloading at mounting of center muffler is a = 5 to 9 mm.
- Tighten bolted connections on front clamps -item 14 evenly to 40 Nm.





- Push rear section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow until preloading at rear mountings of rear muffler is a = 7 to 11 mm.
- Align rear muffler so it is horizontal.
- Tighten bolted connections on rear clamps -item 25- evenly to 40 Nm.
- Align tailpipes

Aligning tailpipes
- Check left and right distance between tailpipe and bumper:
^ Distance a (left) = distance a (right)
^ Distance b can be disregarded.

Perform steps listed below to correct distance "a" if necessary:








- Loosen bolts (arrows) on brace between exhaust pipes.
- Adjust distance between rear mufflers.
- Tighten bolts to 25 Nm.
