Removing And Installing Air Cleaner Housing

Removing







- Unfasten quick-release fasteners -1- and -2- and lift out engine cover (arrows).







- Remove cover (arrow) at power steering reservoir.







- Unfasten hose clamps -1- and -3- and take off air hoses.
- Remove air cleaner securing bolt -2-.







- Remove bolt -1- at holder on left for air cleaner housing.
- Disengage crankcase breather hose at clip -2-.







- Use clean pieces of foam (arrows) or similar to seal off openings in rear air pipe to prevent ingress of foreign matter.







- Remove right securing nut (arrow) for air cleaner housing.







- Lift rear edge of air cleaner housing slightly ...







- ... and disconnect connectors (arrow) at both mass air flow sensors.
- Remove air cleaner housing.

Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:







- Check that rubber grommets -1- have been correctly inserted in intake manifold.
- Check mass air flow sensor oil seals -2-.
- Sealing lips must not be damaged
- Oil seals must be firmly in position in rear air pipe
- Replace loose or damaged oil seals.
- Moisten rubber grommets -1- and oil seals -2- with small quantity of engine oil (never use lubricant containing silicone).
- Move air cleaner housing into installation position.







- Attach connectors (arrow) to both mass air flow sensors.







- Start by pressing down rear edge of air cleaner housing (arrows).







- Mass air flow sensors must be pressed into openings in rear air pipe (arrow)







- Then press down center of air cleaner housing (arrows).







- Retainer tabs on underside of air cleaner housing must be pressed into rubber grommets at intake manifold (arrow).







- Tighten right securing nut (arrow) for air cleaner housing.







- Tighten bolt -1- at holder on left for air cleaner housing.
- Engage crankcase breather hose at clip -2-.







- Tighten front securing bolt -2- for air cleaner housing.
- Slide hose clamps onto connections of air cleaner housing and air pipes.
- Install air hoses between air cleaner housing and air pipes.
- Tighten hose clamps -1- and -2- to 0.4 Nm (take care not to deform air pipes).







- Check correct installation of air cleaner housing.
- Mass air flow sensors must be fully inserted in rear air pipe
- Dimension a = max. 5 mm
