Suction Jet Pump With Manifold Test - Vehicles With 8-cylinder-Turbo Engine
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items
- V.A.G 1318 with V.A.G 1318/10 and V.A.G 1318/11
- VAS 5051
Test conditions:
- Battery voltage at least 12.7 V
- Fuel filter OK
- Fuel tank should be maximum. 1/4 filled.
- Fuel Pump (FP) Control Module -J538-; test. Testing and Inspection
Test sequence
- Remove the air cleaner housing.
- Block the openings of the air circulation pipe in the back with clean foam pads -arrows-, so that no small articles can infiltrate system.
- Remove the cap from the filler neck.
WARNING: Fuel supply lines are under pressure. Before loosening any lines, cover the connection with a rag. Release the pressure by slowly separating the connection.
- Remove fuel return hose -1- from the line adapter at the fuel distribution pipe
- Connect V.A.G 1318 with adapters V.A.G 1318/10 and 1318/11 and an auxiliary hose between fuel distribution pipe -1- and return hose -2-.
- With ignition switch "ON", connect VAS 5051 vehicle diagnosis, measuring and information system and select "01 - engine electronics".
VAS 5051:
- Select -1- for the diagnostic test function "03 - Control Module Diagnosis"
VAS 5051:
A - Output check test waiting
Continue as required
1 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve -N80-
- Select the -> -arrow- key
VAS 5051:
A - Output check test running
Allowed to continue
- Observe the pressure reading.
- Desired value: 1.4 ... 2.0 bar
- Quit function "03 - control member diagnosis" by touching the <- -arrow- key.
If the desired value has not been reached:
- Replace suction jet pump with manifold.
- Install the fuel return pipe with new hose clip.
- Install air cleaner housing.
- Check that air filter housing is properly installed
- Mass airflow sensor must be completely inserted in the intake air pipe.
