Fuel Tank With Attachments, Component Overview - Vehicles With 8-cylinder Engine Except A6 Allroad
NOTE: The fuel filler neck with expansion tank can be exchanged separately.
1 Bolt M8 x 28 with attached washer
- 23 Nm (17 ft lb)
2 Speed nut
- For heat shield
- Must be securely fastened
3 Carrier panel
4 Vent line
- Front part
- To Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) canister purge regulator valve -N80-
- Attached to upper part of fuel tank
- Remains attached when removing tank
5 Fuel return line
- From fuel filter
- To fuel sender
6 Fuel supply line
- From fuel filter
- To fuel rail
- Mark before removing
- Observe direction of arrow at closing flange
- Attach to fuel tank right front
7 2 Nm (18 in. lb)
8 Heat shield
- For fuel filler neck

- 1.3 Nm (11.5 in. lb)
11 Overflow hose

15 Fuel filler cap
- Using safety device, hang cap on fuel tank flap.
16 Ground (GND) wire
- To deter static electricity.
- Installation position/Checking procedure, See Fig. 1.
- Make sure tight fit of connector and mount terminal with bolt item -9-, for fuel filler neck
- After installing, measure resistance using multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) between metal ring of fuel filler neck and bare metal part of body. Specified value: approx. 0 Ohm

17 Fuel filler neck with expansion tank
- Can be replaced separately

- To EVAP canister
- Attach to top of fuel tank
- Remains attached to fuel tank during while removing fuel tank

NOTE: Check installation position with fuel tank or fuel filler neck removed
- If necessary unbolt expansion tank -1- -arrows-.
- Route and connect Ground wire as shown -arrow-.
- Ensure that harness connector for Ground (GND) connection is properly seated on metal ring (Ground clamp) on fuel filler neck.
- Check if contact terminal (tongue) at fastening hole is properly locked in.
- Hold terminal tongue -1- with bolt -2- for fuel filler neck.
CAUTION: After installing the expansion tank, use ohmmeter to check the electrical connection between metal (Ground clamp) ring on the fuel filler neck and bare metal part (Ground (GND) on Body.
