Front brakes, servicing (FNR- G60)
Note:
^ Always install the complete repair kit
^ After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in the normal operating position.
^ To draw off brake fluid from the reservoir; use a bleeder bottle which is used only for brake fluid. Brake fluid is poisonous and must on no account be siphoned out by mouth using a hose!
^ Check that brake caliper moves freely by pushing it sideways.
1 - Brake pads
Note:
There is a wear indicator wire installed to the inner pad (with spring).

^ When worn always replace both sides
^ Clean guide surfaces and apply a thin coating of lithium grease G 052 142 A2, before inserting pads.
^ Removing and installing
^ Checking pad thickness:
Note:
Always clean brake calipers thoroughly (grease-free) before installing new brake pads. Pay particular attention to the contact surfaces of the brake pads.
2 - Brake carrier
^ Bolt to wheel bearing housing
3 - Ribbed combi bolt, 190 Nm
^ Clean ribs if using again
^ M14x1.5x38
4 - Bearing bushing
^ Install into brake caliper housing
5 - Guide pins, 30 Nm
6 - Protective cap
^ Take off
^ Insert wear indicator wire in protective cap
7 - Brake disc
^ When worn always replace both sides
^ Remove brake caliper prior to removing
^ Grease contact surfaces between brake disc and wheel hub with polyurea grease G 052 142 A2
8 - Wheel bolts
^ Mounting wheels
^ Tightening torque: 120 Nm (89 ft lb)
9 - Brake line connection to brake hose, 12 Nm
10 - Brake line
^ Screw into brake caliper housing.
^ Screw into brake hose, counter hold on brake hose hex.
^ When installing do not twist hose.
^ Make sure that lugs are properly seated in grooves in bracket.
11 - Brake line connection to brake caliper, 19 Nm
12 - Retainer
^ Bolt to brake caliper housing
^ Engage brake line
13 - Hex bolt M 8 x 16
^ Tightening torque 25 Nm
14 - Brake caliper housing
^ If assembly work is required do not leave caliper hanging from brake hose, secure it to body with binding wire
^ With exception of "Replacing brake pads" - and "Servicing front brake caliper", no repairs are to be performed on the brake caliper
^ When installing do not twist hose
15 - Retaining spring
^ Note installation position
Note:
After inserting the retaining spring into the two holes, press it under the brake carrier If incorrectly installed, it is not possible to adjust the wear of the outer pad, and the pedal travel will be increased as a result
