Shift mechanism, disassembling and assembling

Disassembling





- Move selector lever to position "ID".
- Remove selector lever lock solenoid -7-.
- Unclip shift gate -12-. Release pivot pins -5- and -19- and pull them out sideways.
- Unclip retainers -2- and -16-.





- Pull off retaining clip -17-.
- Swivel interlock lever -11- upward as far as it will go.
- Pull selector lever -6- together with bushings -3 and -15- and Tiptronic interlock levers -4- and 18- down out of selector lever housing -14-.

Assembling
- Check that selector lever is in position "ID".
- Swivel interlock lever -11- upward as far as it will go.
- Insert selector lever -6- into selector lever housing -14- from below.
- Attach Tiptronic interlock levers -4- and -18- and bushings -3- and -15- to selector lever.





- Push selector lever -6- together with bushings into selector lever housing and hold in position with retaining clip -17-.
- Engage retainers -2- and -16- on selector lever housing.
- Press pivot pins -5- and -19- into mounting bracket until they engage.
- Check that pivot pins engage in Tiptronic interlock levers.
- Install shift lock solenoid -7-.
- Clip in shift gate -12-.

Removing





- To remove locking cable, lift spring slightly at top (arrow -B-).
- Disengage spring from retainer tab (arrow -C-) and lift out.

Installing
- Insert spring from above -arrow B- and engage under retainer lug (arrow -C-).
- Align spring so that it lies level in groove (arrow -A-).
