Note:
^ The vehicle must be absolutely horizontal when checking transmission oil level. This work is best performed over an inspection pit or using a 4-column lifting platform.
^ The prescribed oil level is to be adhered to exactly, the transmission reacts very sensitively to over-filling.

Test sequence
- Take vehicle for a short test drive to heat gear oil to approximately 60°C.
- Switch off engine and allow 5 minutes for gear oil to settle back into transmission case.





- Release quick-fasteners -2- and -3 and take off rear sound insulation.





- If equipped, loosen bolt -1- on sound insulation cover above left drive shaft.
- Disengage retainer -2- and remove noise insulation cover.





- Remove oil filler plug (arrow) to check transmission oil level.
- Check oil level with locally manufactured tool e.g. a piece of angled wire.
^ Specified value: oil level 8.5 mm below lower edge of oil filler hole.
- Top up oil as necessary.

Note: When servicing the oil can also be filled up to the lower edge of the oil filler hole. In this case it is necessary to draw off 0.2 liters to attain the correct oil level.

- Install new oil filler plug.
- Tighten new oil filler plug.
