Rear brakes with automatic adjustment

Notes:

^ Always install the complete repair kit.

^ After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in the normal operating position.

^ To draw off brake fluid from the reservoir; use a bleeder bottle which is used only for brake fluid. Brake fluid is poisonous and must on no account be siphoned out by mouth using a hose!

^ Check that brake caliper moves freely by pushing it sideways.

^ Brakes can be checked on any commercially available brake dynamometer; provided that the drive speed of the two dynamometer drive rollers is not more than 5.5 km/h.






1 - Self-locking hex bolt, 35 Nm
^ Always replace
^ Counter hold guide pin when loosening and tightening
2 - Brake caliper housing
^ Unbolt in order to change brake pads
^ Hose must not be twisted when installed
^ Do not disconnect brake hose when changing pads
^ Servicing brake caliper

3 - Brake pads
^ Always replace on both wheels of axle
^ Do not disconnect brake hose when changing pads
^ Removing and installing
^ Checking thickness:-Maintenance manual

4 - Retaining spring
^ Always renew when changing pads
5 - Brake disc
^ When worn always renew both sides
^ Remove brake caliper prior to removing
^ Apply a small amount of polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A2 to contact surfaces between brake disc and wheel hub
^ Ensure adequate wear reserve
6 - Socket head bolts
^ M10x60
^ Always replace
^ Tightening torque: 75 Nm
7 - Brake carrier with guide pins and protective cap
^ Supplied as replacement part assembled with sufficient grease on guide pins
^ Use repair kit if protective caps or guide pins are damaged. Use grease packet supplied to lubricate guide pins.
8 - Banjo bolt, 45 Nm
9 - Brake line with banjo union
^ Unscrew from brake carrier to replace brake pads
^ Hose must not be twisted when installed
^ Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads
^ Servicing caliper
